Danube ship museum
The museum on board two historic Danube ships gives an insight into the history of navigation on the German-speaking Danube.
Regensburg has hundreds of monuments - the most unusual ones float on the water. The museum is located on board two historic Danube ships: the paddle steamer RUTHOF/ÉRSEKCSANÁD (built in 1922/23) and the motor train ship FREUDENAU (1943). Both ships were painstakingly renovated by the carrier. On board, a large number of original rooms are accessible. Much space is taken up by the steam engine and the diesel engine, both of which are running and functional and are occasionally demonstrated. Dioramas, models and display boards on board the steamer provide an insight into the history of navigation on the German-speaking Danube.
