Municipal Gallery in the Leerer Beutel

The city gallery Leerer Beutel reflects the panorama of mainly East Bavarian artists.

Once used as a granary, the Empty Bag, a stately, landmarked building from the 16th/17th centuries, was given its new purpose as a municipal gallery building in 1980 after being thoroughly renovated.

The collection reflects a panorama of primarily East Bavarian artistic creation, which is expressed in a special way in the painterly and graphic work complexes of artists such as Josef Achmann (1898-1973), Kurt von Unruh (1894-1986), Xaver Fuhr (1898-1973) and Otto Baumann (1901-1992). Accents for the art after 1945 are set by an ensemble of paintings and sculptures created by artists of the group "SPUR" and their environment (Lothar Fischer, Heimrad Prem, Helmut Sturm, Hans-Peter Zimmer and Erwin Eisch). In an interesting dialogue with this are works of the younger generation.
