Karthaus museums
The museum shows 150 years of history of the district hospital Regensburg as well as the life in the Carthusian monastery.
The Karthaus Museums comprise two different museums of the Regensburg District Hospital.
The Kartausen Museum deals with the religious past of this area. Benedictines and Carthusians, their lives and works of art are the focus here, as is the former monastery church of St. Vitus - "the cathedral of Kumpfmühl".
The psychiatry museum, on the other hand, shows the building development from the former Charterhouse to today's district hospital. The visitor also gets an overview of the treatment options for patients. The museum also houses the Vierzigmann collection with pictures taken by patients in the 1920s and 1930s.
Another exhibition in the Rasura shows the 150-year history of the Regensburg District Hospital. In addition to the building history and the working world, the development of psychiatry is also illustrated.
